Around Bad Schauenburg

A visit to Arlesheim Dom (cathedral): this excursion is well worthwhile if only for the journey through peaceful forest and fields on the way to Arlesheim. And even more so for the Dom itself – a mighty rococo cathedral in the heart of the town. The cathedral houses the only remaining Swiss Silbermann organ which is still playable. A 15-minute drive.

Follow in the footsteps of the ancient Romans at Augusta Raurica. The aura of this long-ago era is presented in a particularly impressive way. 15-minute drive to the town of Augst.

Atop the Fluh

Simply a must: the 40-minute hike to the Schauenburger Fluh (rock face), 663 metres above sea level. The reward is panoramic views over the wooded Baselbiet hills to Germany’s Black Forest. The foundations of a Roman temple were laid free here in the 1960s.
